I am a Paediatric Occupational Therapist who provides a calm, centred perspective whilst offering a dynamic, playful and flexible approach to therapy in order to adapt to each child's unique needs. I believe that adopting a combination of both bottom up approach (skill acquisition) and top down approach (focusing on occupational performance and quality of life) is most effective in achieving therapeutic goals, under a person-focussed and family-centred framework. I aim to maximise engagement, fun and learning to support your child’s development and progress in order to meet their functional goals. I have a special interest in working with children that have sensory processing challenges and difficulties with self regulation, self efficacy and self confidence.
My mission is to empower each child, to build resilience, encourage self-confidence and personal growth. I aim to create a positive change to every child I work with. I understand the importance of capturing each child’s unique self. Therefore, I believe it is important to get to know the child's interests, learning style and ways of communicating and letting their interests inspire my communication and interactions. I adopt an inclusive, neurodivergent affirming approach to therapy. Neuro-differences, such as autism, should not be seen as disorders or deficits that need a cure, but rather that neuro-diverse individuals should be included and embraced by society. I aim to empower autistic and neurodivergent individuals, leading to equity and belonging.
I believe it is essential to take the time to understand how each child makes sense of the world, to make learning relevant to them so as to enable maximum participation. I aim to support you and your child to recognise how to better support themselves, how to better maximise their huge potential in a mutually self-sustaining way. Every day I am passionate about working together to enable your child and your family to thrive.
